The Hotel Vendome was built in 1888 upon what had been the 12-acre Belden estate. It was the City's first resort hotel, and notable visitors included Presidents Harrison, McKinley, and Teddy Roosevelt.
In 1930, the hotel was purchased by a real estate syndicate, and demolished. The land was divided into individual lots and sold. Historic architecture of the Vendome Neighborhood homes range from condominium communities to Spanish Haciendas and stately Queen Annes.
The Vendome Neighborhood is located west of N. First Street, bounded by Hwy. 87, Taylor Street, and Ryland.
